Labour Party’s Peter Obi to Contest 2023 Election Results in Just 18 States

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that they will specifically contest the results of the February 25 election in just 18 states. This information was revealed by Emeka Okpoko, the counsel representing Obi and the Labour Party, during the ongoing hearing of their joint petition before the presidential election petition court.

During the proceedings, Obi and his party presented certified electoral documents obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from six states. These documents, primarily Forms EC8A containing election results from polling units, were submitted as exhibits to support their claims of electoral rigging and other malpractices during the election.

Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, the presiding judge of the court, admitted the documents as exhibits after they were tendered by Chief Emeka Okpoko SAN, who represented Obi and the Labour Party during the proceedings. Interestingly, INEC, represented by Kemi Pinhero SAN, who had issued and certified the documents as genuine, unexpectedly objected to their admission.
