IG Deploys Mobile Unit to Aid in the Rescue of Kidnapped Pupils in Kaduna, Nigeria

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken immediate action by deploying a mobile police unit to Kuriga community in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. This comes in response to the recent kidnapping of over 280 students from LEA Primary School in Kuriga.

During his visit to assess the situation firsthand, accompanied by Deputy Inspector General Habu Sani from the Force Intelligence Department, Egbetokun expressed his sympathies to the affected people and Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. He assured them of the Nigerian Police Force’s (NPF) unwavering commitment to rescuing the abducted students, utilizing both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, along with other senior officers, visited Kaduna in light of the distressing abduction of school students. The IGP restated the NPF’s dedication to ensuring the safe rescue of the students, employing various strategies to secure their release and bring the perpetrators to justice.”

The Governor of Kaduna State pledged the state government’s support for the deployed mobile police unit and called on the media to practice responsible journalism throughout the crisis.

During his visit, the IGP also met with police officers at the Police Command and the Police College in Kaduna. He addressed their concerns and assured them of the Force’s unwavering commitment to their well-being. Egbetokun emphasized the importance of creating a service-oriented, professionally competent, people-friendly, and law-abiding police institution to foster a more secure environment in Nigeria.

Recognising the gravity of the task ahead, the Nigeria Police Force is diligently working towards ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The IGP urged the public to remain calm, cooperate with the police, and other relevant security agencies in the tireless efforts to swiftly resolve the current security challenges in the country.
