The governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has decided to ease the 24-hour curfew that was previously imposed on Mangu Local Government Area in response to recent attacks.

A statement issued on Friday in Jos by Mr. Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, confirmed the relaxation of the curfew. It will now be in effect from 8am to 4pm daily until further notice.

Governor Mutfwang explained that the decision was made due to an improvement in the security situation in the area. He mentioned that strategic dialogues had taken place with religious and community leaders regarding the security crisis.

“After careful consideration and consultation with the State Security Council, we have decided to relax the curfew. I urge the residents of Mangu to strictly adhere to the curfew and refrain from taking the law into their own hands,” stated Mutfwang.

He further emphasized the need for security personnel to enforce the curfew strictly to prevent any disruption of law and order.

Expressing gratitude to the residents of Mangu for their cooperation thus far, the governor urged them to collaborate with and support the efforts of the security agencies in their quest for a peaceful and prosperous Plateau state.
