Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has been honored with the Inclusive Governance Award by the Yobe State Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

The award recognizes the governor’s administration for its fair treatment of all ethnic, cultural, and religious groups.

During a Christmas visit to the Government House in Damaturu, Bishop Yohanna Audu, the chairman of Yobe CAN, along with other association leaders, presented the award to Governor Buni. Bishop Audu commended the governor for his leadership style that promotes inclusivity, irrespective of tribe, region, or religion.

Yobe CAN also praised Governor Buni for appointing individuals from diverse faiths and ethnic backgrounds into his administration. The association commended his commitment to peace and harmonious coexistence in the state, where people of different religions live together peacefully with love and trust.

In recognition of the governor’s efforts, Yobe CAN highlighted various initiatives, including organizing a unity carol event with participants from the six North Eastern states during Christmas. They also acknowledged the government’s provision of bulls during festivals, distribution of palliatives to the less privileged, scholarship awards for foreign students, and the allocation of pilgrimage slots to its members.

Governor Buni expressed his gratitude for the award and assured the association of continued opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their religion, ethnicity, or cultural background. He emphasized that building a peaceful society is a collective responsibility and urged religious leaders to promote peace among their followers.

Appreciating the stable peace enjoyed in the state, Governor Buni stated that the award would inspire him to further support and inclusively engage with all stakeholders. He expressed his deep regard for the honor bestowed upon him by the association and pledged to value it.
