Government Calls for Emergency Meeting with NLC and TUC Regarding Impending Nationwide Strike

The Federal Government, in an urgent attempt to prevent the scheduled nationwide strike set to commence on October 3, has called for an emergency meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).

Sources indicate that the meeting is planned for later this evening and will take place at the Aso Villa, specifically in the Conference Room of the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.

Initially scheduled for 12 noon today, the meeting had to be rescheduled to the evening to allow Organised Labour representatives to contact their leaders located outside Abuja. According to sources, the NLC and TUC were officially invited to the meeting through the Ministry of Labour and Employment earlier today.
