Dismissal of 3 officers approved by PSC, while rank of 5 others reduced

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has taken disciplinary action against several police officers, including the dismissal of three Assistant Superintendents of Police, and reduction in rank of five others. Additionally, 20 officers were severely reprimanded for their actions.

According to Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC, the decision was made during the 20th Plenary Meeting of the Commission, which was presided over by its Chairman, Dr. Solomon Arase. The meeting addressed 43 pending disciplinary matters, appeals, and petitions.

Ani stated that an Assistant Commissioner of Police, a Chief Superintendent of Police, four Superintendents, two Deputy Superintendents, and 12 Assistant Superintendents were severely reprimanded. Furthermore, the meeting approved the reprimand of six officers, one Superintendent, and five Assistant Superintendents.

Ani mentioned that the Commission’s Chairman pledged to prioritize the welfare of police officers and take decisive action in cases of infractions where necessary. The meeting also approved the promotion of 109 senior staff of the Commission.
