CAF Selects Super Eagles’ Osimhen for Drug Test in AFCON 2023

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been picked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for random drug tests during the tournament.

According to a source, Osimhen underwent testing after the matches against hosts Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon. This marks the second time in four games that he has been subjected to these tests.

In the encounter against Cote d’Ivoire, Osimhen drew a foul that resulted in a penalty, securing a 1-0 victory for Nigeria. His performance continued to impress in the last-16 clash against Cameroon, contributing significantly to the 2-0 win.

Osimhen played a key role in setting up the first goal for Ademola Lookman and maintained a consistent threat against the Indomitable Lions. Despite being replaced by Paul Onuachu late in the game, Osimhen’s impact was evident.

While Osimhen has scored once in the tournament, in the 1-1 draw against Equatorial Guinea, his overall contribution has been instrumental. As the current CAF Player of the Year, Osimhen is expected to lead the line for the three-time champions in the upcoming quarter-final clash against Angola.
