Azeez Considering MLS Transfer

Nigerian Midfielder Ramon Azeez Eyed by MLS Club Philadelphia Union

Philadelphia Union, a Major League Soccer (MLS) team, is reportedly showing interest in Nigerian midfielder Ramon Azeez, as reported by VISTANAIJ.

Azeez, who has been without a club since departing Granada in July 2021, is presently in Lithuania training with FK Zalgiris, a 10-time Lithuanian champion, in his quest for a new team.

A source close to the player disclosed, “There have been contacts for Azeez from the US and in Lithuania, but we are considering all offers at hand for now.”

Offers from the MLS have emerged, and Azeez, being a free agent, and his team are taking their time to weigh the options before making a decision.

If Azeez opts to join FK Žalgiris, he will follow the path of his former teammate Ogenyi Onazi, who briefly played for the club in 2021.

Azeez has a rich history representing Nigeria at various levels. He featured in every game for Nigeria’s U-17 team during the 2009 U-17 World Cup in Abuja, where they finished as runners-up. He was also honoured as the third-best player of the tournament.

Additionally, Azeez captained the Flying Eagles to a quarter-final finish at the 2011 World Cup in Colombia and represented Nigeria at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

During his time in Spain, Azeez made a significant impact, amassing 71 appearances in La Liga while playing for UD Almeria and Granada. He also competed in over a hundred matches in LaLiga 2.

The versatile midfielder has also plied his trade for CD Lugo and Cartagena in Spain’s second division, showcasing his experience and skill on the pitch.
