The Committee of Diaspora Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress, CDC-APC, has urged President Bola Tinubu to step in and address the growing crisis surrounding the election held for the United Kingdom (UK) chapter of the group.

In a statement released on Monday by Prof Adesegun Labinjo and Mr Bola Babarinde, the Chairman and General Secretary of the committee respectively, it emphasized the urgent need for the President’s intervention due to alleged irregularities in the conduct of the UK Diaspora Chapter elections.

The statement highlighted that if the situation remains unchecked, it could lead to unintended and unfavorable consequences for both the Diaspora chapter and the party as a whole.

“We risk facing a catastrophic scenario where the long-term solutions we all desire may escape the chapter and other Diaspora chapters,” the statement cautioned.

Furthermore, the statement called for an end to the strained relationship between CDC-APC and the APC headquarters, stressing that the Diaspora chapters are not in competition with the party’s leadership.

“Our aim is to support and complement the party, utilising the strength and reach of our supporters abroad to benefit our party and country back home,” it stated.

The statement also expressed concern over the divisive tactics employed by some individuals within the party’s Secretariat, who prioritise personal agendas over the party’s well-being.

“These power-hungry and arrogant elements show little regard for the party’s welfare, instead focusing on their own egos and sowing discord between the Diaspora chapters and the Secretariat,” it asserted.
