The top officials of the National Assembly are gearing up for a trip to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to support the Super Eagles in their crucial quarter-final clash against Angola at the Africa Cup of Nations. Senator Kawu Sumaila, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, revealed this during a press briefing in Abuja.

Following the Super Eagles’ impressive victory over Cameroon in the round of 16, securing their place in the quarter-finals at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, plans are in motion for key figures from the National Assembly to lend their support to the Nigerian team.

Senator Sumaila highlighted that alongside the principal officers, members of the National Assembly’s joint Committees on Sports will also be part of the delegation travelling to Abidjan to rally behind the Super Eagles.

Expressing satisfaction with the team’s performance so far, Senator Sumaila expressed confidence in the Super Eagles’ ability to clinch victory against Angola in the upcoming match.

Regarding the future of Super Eagles’ coach, Jose Peseiro, Senator Sumaila stated that any decisions regarding the coach’s fate would be considered after the conclusion of the tournament, reaffirming optimism for a successful outcome for the Super Eagles against Angola.
