Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has praised the impressive performance of the Super Eagles in securing a spot in the semi-finals of the 2023 AFCON.

After a series of commendable performances, including three wins and one draw in four AFCON matches, the Super Eagles faced a tough challenge against Angola, who also displayed strong form with three wins and a draw.

Despite the tough competition, the Super Eagles showcased their superiority by clinching a narrow victory over Angola, with Ademola Lookman’s splendid goal in the 41st minute securing the win.

Governor Obaseki lauded the team’s resilience and teamwork, expressing confidence in their ability to clinch the AFCON trophy. He stated, “The Super Eagles have shown remarkable progress and determination. We celebrate your well-deserved victory and commendable performance.”

He continued, “We believe in your capabilities and urge you to maintain this winning momentum until you bring home the trophy. Congratulations and go for gold, champions.”

The Super Eagles will now prepare to face either Cape Verde or South Africa in the semi-finals scheduled for February 7th.
