The Ogun State Government has taken action against three companies found to be violating environmental laws in the state.

The companies affected are Ruili Recycling Limited in Mowe, Robust International PTE Limited, also in Mowe, and Star Pipe Limited in Sagamu.

The government’s decision to seal these companies is part of its ongoing commitment to establish a strong foundation for environmental best practices in the state. Commissioner for Environment, Ola Oresanya, ordered the closures after identifying various infractions committed by the companies.

Ruili Recycling, a pet bottles recycling company, was found guilty of discharging waste and stormwater into the environment, including the premises of Christopher University. The company also failed to obtain drainage approval to properly manage the water. Additionally, it was accused of burning solid waste within its premises, posing a hazard to workers and nearby communities.

Robust International PTE illegally demolished a fence that separated its property from Christopher University, diverting stormwater onto the university premises. The company also disregarded government directives for proper remediation.

Star Pipe Limited in Sagamu was shut down for its refusal to install effluent treatment plants, resulting in the discharge of raw and hydrolic acid into the surrounding environment. This contamination has rendered the groundwater unsafe and unhygienic for nearby communities.

The affected companies will remain closed until they rectify the identified violations. The state government aims to ensure that these companies operate in compliance with global environmental standards adopted by the state, rather than permanently shutting them down.
