The Ogun State Government is set to host the 18th edition of the National Council on Transportation from Tuesday, 13th February, to Friday, 16th February 2024.
Governor Dapo Abiodun will preside over the meeting, which will bring together Commissioners responsible for Transportation from all 36 states, including the FCT, as well as their permanent secretaries, Transport Secretaries, Director of Planning Research and Statistics, and other stakeholders.
The Minister for Transportation, Senator Saidu Alkali, will be the esteemed Guest of Honour at the event. This year’s edition will focus on the theme “Embracing Innovations and Technologies for Sustainable Transportation: Tackling the Energy Challenges.”
Commissioner for Transportation in Ogun State, Engr. Olugbenga Dairo, expressed his excitement about hosting this significant yearly event that aims to foster development in Nigeria’s transportation system.
“The National Council on Transportation is a national and yearly event aimed at developing the transportation system in Nigeria. I am pleased to announce that His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, Governor of Ogun State, in his unwavering commitment to positioning the state as a leader in national transportation innovation, has graciously accepted to host the 18th edition of this event. It will take place from Tuesday, 13th February to Friday, 16th February 2024, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta.”
Dairo further highlighted that the state will welcome transport experts, regulators, policymakers, investors, and operators from across the country, including federal and state ministries of transportation, as well as federal agencies within the transport sector. The gathering will serve as a platform to discuss current transport issues, provide innovative and technological ideas, and culminate in the formulation and adoption of policies and common resolutions.
The hosting of the 18th National Council on Transportation in Ogun State reflects the state’s commitment to advancing transportation development and embracing sustainable solutions for the benefit of its citizens and the nation as a whole.
