The Adorable Video of Inter-tribal Couple Solomon Buchi and Arike Sparks Interest in the Languages Our Children Will Speak
Relationship coach and writer, Solomon Buchi, recently took to his Instagram page to share an endearing video featuring himself and his wife discussing the topic of language and their future children.
Solomon Buchi, who hails from the Igbo tribe, and his wife Arike, who belongs to the Yoruba tribe, have gained attention due to their inter-tribal relationship. In the video, Solomon affectionately showcases his wife’s natural beauty and playfully quizzes her about her fluency in the Yoruba language.
He also inquired whether she believed he was a proficient Igbo speaker, to which she affirmed. However, he expressed some disagreement regarding her command of the Yoruba language, considering that she had spent most of her life in the United Kingdom.
Responding with a slight pout, Arike stated,“For somebody who has lived in the Uk for most of my life, my Yoruba is very good”
Solomon expressed concern about the linguistic environment their future children would grow up in. He noted that children primarily acquire language skills by listening to their parents interact, but since they each had different native languages and primarily communicated in English, it could pose a challenge.
