Suspect Admits Fatally Stabbing AAUA Female Student in Order to Steal Her iPhone XR

Akure—Olubodun Sanni, a 21-year-old final year student at Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA) in Ondo State, has admitted to stabbing 20-year-old Adekunle Ifeoluwa, another student at the same institution, to death in order to steal her iPhone XR.

The victim, Adebisi, was a 300-level economics student who resided in an off-campus hostel along with her assailant.
According to police sources, the suspect confessed that he was drawn to the victim because of her phone and devised a plan to befriend her.

The police source stated, “The suspect confessed, even before her parents, that on that unfortunate day, he approached the victim to transfer some films from her phone to his iPad.

“The unsuspecting female student agreed but did not allow him into her room. She informed the suspect that her phone’s battery was low.

“The suspect then excused himself, stating that he would return later with his power bank to charge the victim’s phone.
“He returned to the victim’s room very late and was granted entry. Once inside, he grabbed the victim by the neck and stabbed her in the chest with a knife he had brought along.

“The suspect then took the victim’s phone, destroyed her SIM card, and inserted his own SIM card.
“Police investigations revealed that he used the phone during the day and concealed it inside an unfinished building near the hostel.”

According to Vanguard, the police detectives traced the active SIM card to the suspect’s mother, who was subsequently arrested.

“A source said, ‘After questioning the mother, the police detectives were led to her son’s hostel, where he was apprehended.'”

During a parade of the suspected killer and other criminals, the State Police Commissioner, Abayomi Oladipo, stated in Akure that the suspect was apprehended through the use of modern technology, which tracked the stolen phone to the suspect.
