“Stop asking us to work for free in 2024” – Bella Okagbue

Reality TV star Bella Okagbue recently used her Twitter platform to address the issue of inadequate payment for content creators by business and brand owners.

She emphasised the importance of brands normalizing fair compensation for creatives based on their rates. Bella shared instances where brands have offered non-monetary incentives such as “early access to unreleased products” or “free items in exchange for collaboration.”

Highlighting that it’s a new year, Bella urged everyone to refrain from requesting creatives to work without proper compensation. She conveyed this message while wishing everyone a good morning.

Brands need to normalise paying creatives their rate.

“You get early access to unreleased product”

“we want to send you items for free in exchange for collaboration” etc
