Vivek Ramaswamy, a Republican presidential candidate in the United States, announced the suspension of his campaign on Monday.

Following his failure to meet expectations at the Iowa Caucuses, Ramaswamy decided to endorse former President Donald Trump instead.

Trump had started his campaign to secure the Republican Party’s presidential nomination and emerged victorious in the lead-off contest in the 2024 Republican presidential nominating calendar.

Ramaswamy received approximately 8% support from caucus goers, placing him behind Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who secured second and third place with around 20% support, respectively.

In a statement posted on his X handle on Tuesday, Ramaswamy announced the suspension of his campaign, emphasizing that his candidacy was founded on speaking the truth, even when it’s challenging.

Ramaswamy disclosed that he had personally called Donald Trump to express his support. He pledged to do everything in his power to ensure Trump’s success in becoming the next U.S. President. He expressed pride in his team, the movement, and the country.

Despite the late-stage competition from Ramaswamy, Trump exceeded expectations and set records in the contested caucus, winning over 50% of the vote.

Previously, Trump himself had shown concerns about Ramaswamy in the final stages of the race, attacking him on Truth Social just days before the Iowa Caucuses.

Ramaswamy’s X post read, “This entire campaign is about speaking the TRUTH. We did not achieve our goal tonight, and we need an America-First patriot in the White House. The people spoke loud and clear about who they want. Tonight, I am suspending my campaign and endorsing Donald J. Trump and will do everything I can to make sure he is the next U.S. President. I am enormously proud of this team, this movement, and our country.”
