The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), announced that the Federal Government, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, has approved N320,345,040,835 as intervention funds for public tertiary education institutions for 2023. The announcement was made during the Fund’s annual strategic planning workshop in Abuja, which was attended by heads of beneficiary institutions. Echono explained that the meeting was to evaluate the performance of TETFund’s intervention lines and receive feedback to enhance the agency’s mandate.

For the 2023 intervention cycle, universities will receive N1,154,732,133.00, polytechnics N699,344,867.00, and colleges of education N800,862,602.00. Echono noted that this represents the highest disbursement to each beneficiary institution since the Fund’s inception. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, David Adejo, urged institutions to use the intervention funds judiciously, emphasizing the importance of practical application of knowledge.
