World Bank Grants FG $800 Million for Subsidy Palliatives

 President Muhammadu Buhari, the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, announced that the Federal Government had secured an $800 million World Bank grant.

During Wednesday’s weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council chaired by him the grant stated to be  part of its subsidy palliative measures.

The minister stated that the palliatives would aim to support 10 million households or 50 million vulnerable Nigerians.

Ahmed also emphasized that the government is working with the Presidential Transition Council and the incoming administration to implement the palliative program, which includes acquiring buses among other considerations. Additionally, the Federal Government has approved 10.9 billion naira to fund the procurement and installation of information and communication technology components for the 2023 National population census scheduled to occur in May.
