The Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command successfully rescued 14 kidnapped victims.

The rescue operation took place at Ukya village, near the Nasarawa state bordering the FCT, on Wednesday at approximately 5:30 pm.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, during the operation, one of the kidnappers was neutralized by the police, while the remaining criminals fled to a nearby forest with bullet wounds.

All the rescued hostages were unharmed and have been reunited with their families, as confirmed by Adeh in a statement on Thursday.

The statement highlighted the collaborative efforts of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters in combating kidnapping in the FCT. Acting on credible intelligence, the police operatives swiftly stormed the kidnapper’s den in Ukya village.

Upon encountering the police, the criminals engaged them in a firefight. Despite the resistance, the police were able to neutralize one of the kidnappers, forcing the others to escape into the nearby forest with injuries sustained from gunshots.

The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, reiterated his commitment to eradicating criminal activities in the FCT and maintaining peace for all residents. He urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activities and continue to use the emergency contact numbers provided.
