The Northern Leadership of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has called on Nigeria’s security agencies to take seriously the threats and incitements made by the Labour Party’s Vice Presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed.

The group stated that these threats could trigger an insurrection against the Nigerian government and the peaceful transition scheduled for May 29, 2023. The statement further distanced IPAC from the threats, stating that they are an attack on democracy and Nigeria’s existence.

The group expressed concern over the silence of the Labour Party’s flagbearer, Mr. Peter Obi, on the matter, which suggests his tacit approval of the threats. The group called on relevant security agencies to prevent their clandestine moves aimed at jeopardizing the democratic process. Baba-Ahmed had in a television interview maligned and threatened the President, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, and the INEC Chairman, daring them not to swear in the President-elect, Nigeria Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was declared the winner of the 2023 presidential polls. The group warned of potential danger Nigeria is facing and dissociated itself from the current moves by Baba-Ahmed and his co-anarchists to endanger civil rule.
