I’ve learnt how to govern Nigeria from Buhari – Osinbajo

Prof Yemi Osinbajo says being the vice to President Muhammadu Buhari has taught him all he needs to know to govern a complex and diverse country like Nigeria.

A statement released by Osinbajo’s media aide, Laolu Akande on Tuesday, said that the vice president made this statement during a visit to the palace of the Emir of Gombe, Abunakar Shehu Abunakar ahead of the ruling party’s primary election.

Osinbajo who declared his intention to run for presidency on April 11, noted that with 7 years experience garnered under the current administration, he is equipped to handle the country’s numerous challenges.

Informing the monarch of his 2023 ambition, Osinbajo said: “I would not disturb you with matters I will have to discuss with politicians, only to say that on April 11, 2022, I formerly declared my intention to run as president of the federal republic of Nigeria.

“And your highness, I did so after serving as VP to our President, Buhari, for the past seven years and I pray, by God grace, I will do so for another year until May 29, 2023.

“I have had the honour of serving under a transparent leader, President Muhammadu Buhari, who exposed me very diligently to all that there is to know about governing a complex and very diverse country such as ours.

“With the experience that God has given me and the exposure that I have had, including being acting President on occasions; if God enables me to become president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I think my experience, all I’ve learned, will be extremely useful.”
