The second day of the curfew in Kano revealed a strikingly different scene from the city’s usual vibrant atmosphere.

Following the governorship election petition tribunal’s judgment, the streets of Kano were notably empty, devoid of the typical hustle and bustle of people and vehicles.

A comprehensive observation by Vistanaij Media within Kano City unveiled a deserted urban landscape. Major roads, which typically teem with activity, now stood vacant. Shops and filling stations had their doors firmly locked, and only a small number of individuals engaged in essential services could be spotted. The visible presence of security personnel on the city’s main streets substantially curtailed the movement of residents.

The Kano State Police Command had previously issued a stern warning through a video clip, making it clear that strict measures would be taken against anyone who dared to violate the curfew.

In a televised address to the public, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf extended an appeal to supporters of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the entire populace of Kano. He urged them to reject any inclinations towards violence and assured them that the party would lodge an appeal against what he characterised as a miscarriage of justice resulting from the tribunal’s ruling.
