The Kaduna State chapter of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) has called upon political leaders and citizens to embrace a spirit of generosity and reject the destructive force of greed, which it sees as silently undermining the country.

Rev Caleb Ma’aji, the Chairman of Kaduna State CAN, made this appeal in Kaduna during his 54th birthday celebration. He emphasized that Nigeria is abundantly blessed and has no reason to endure unnecessary suffering.

Expressing concern over the state of the nation, Rev Ma’aji pointed out that greed has been a major factor contributing to Nigeria’s current economic challenges. He accused both leaders and the less privileged of pursuing personal gain without considering the consequences of their actions on the fate of others.

Rev Ma’aji stated, “God has blessed and chosen Nigeria abundantly, providing us with all the necessary human and material resources, as well as intangible resources. However, we are misusing and mismanaging these resources, resulting in the pain and difficulties we are currently experiencing.”

He continued, “When there is no reverence for God in the lives of leaders and when followers are driven by greed, we are inevitably prone to crises, chaos, and suffering. Genuine progress can only be achieved when leadership is guided by the fear of God and when followers also adhere to godly principles. However, when everyone is solely focused on their own interests, the Nigerian people are destined to suffer.”

The Chairman of Kaduna CAN urged the country’s leadership to embrace the fear of God, emphasizing that one day they will be held accountable before God. He reminded them that life, power, and positions are all temporary, and that ultimately, they will pass away. However, he stressed that the accountability to God is unwavering and cannot be compromised or negotiated.

“Life, power, and positions are all transient. They all come and with time, they will go away but one thing is sure, the accountability to God is unshakable; we cannot compromise it or negotiate it,” he stated emphatically.
