The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, remains its national chairman.

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary, made this announcement during an interview on Arise Television, as reported by Vistanaij Media.

Morka emphasized that the ruling party would not comply with the initial court order that affirmed Ganduje’s suspension as national chairman. He stated that the party’s national chairman had not been officially served any summons regarding the restraining order, and the APC fully supports the recent ruling by the Kano Federal High Court to stay the order.

In a recent twist to the political drama in Kano, a Federal High Court, presided over by Justice A.M Liman, halted the alleged suspension of Ganduje by his ward executives in Dawakin Tofa Local Government area of the state. The ruling came after Ganduje filed an ex parte motion seeking to uphold his fundamental right to a fair hearing. The respondents in the application include the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and nine other individuals.

In response to these developments, Morka stated that it was the right course of action, considering that those behind the suspension were not recognized members of the party.

He explained, “The order issued by the first court was very disturbing for some reasons. Firstly, the plaintiffs who purportedly filed that action are not recognised members of our party and therefore shouldn’t have the legal standing to invoke the authority of the court to make any such order. Secondly, every lawyer in this country is aware that from the Supreme Court up to the NJC, there is this cautiousness that judges don’t make far-reaching orders on an ex parte motion or application.”
