Following his arraignment on Friday, Justice Hamza Muazu of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, has issued an order for the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, to be transferred to Kuje prison while awaiting a decision on his bail application.

Emefiele will remain in custody until November 22, when the court will announce its ruling on the bail request.

His lead counsel, Mathew Burkaa SAN, submitted the bail application, which was strongly opposed by Rotimi Oyedepo on behalf of the Federal Government.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Justice Muazu stated that a prompt ruling could not be delivered due to the numerous legal authorities referenced by the parties involved.

The Judge expressed the need for some time to thoroughly examine the authorities and review the exhibits provided by Emefiele in support of his bail application.

As of now, officials from Kuje prison have been contacted to arrange transportation for Emefiele to the facility.
