Mr. Lawrence Ayeni, a member of the House of Representatives and a representative of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ijesa South Federal Constituency, has urged Nigerians to continue praying for a peaceful transfer of power on May 29th. The lawmaker made this call during his annual Ramadan lecture in Ilesa on Thursday.

Ayeni commended the Muslim faithful for their prayers during Ramadan for the country. He expressed his belief that these prayers would be answered to ensure a peaceful transfer of power to the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, on May 29th. The representative emphasized that a peaceful transition of power would guarantee the unity and stability of Nigeria.

In his statement, Ayeni stressed the importance of a peaceful transition of power for the country’s development. He urged Nigerians to embrace peace and unity as the country progresses towards a new administration. With the peaceful transfer of power, Ayeni believes that Nigeria will be on the path towards greater prosperity and progress.

”All Nigerians should shun violence before, during and after the transition programme.

“This is a special month because Christians finished their fast and shortly, Muslims are about to finish their own too.

“So, automatically, all of us are praying to God and surely, God will have mercy on us for a successful transition.

“Election is over and this is the time for us to come together to support the incoming administration for a greater Nigeria,” he said.

Ayeni, who experienced electoral defeat in the general elections due to threats and thuggery, appealed to the people to persistently adopt peaceful means for the advancement and harmony of the country.

“I cannot blame my supporters for not coming out to vote for me on election day.

“What happened before and during the election was terrible.

“Before the election, 14 of my members were killed in Atakunmosa East. The threat was too much for them from the opposition,” he said.

Earlier in his message, Alhaji Abdulraheem Bushira, the Chief Imam of Ansarulislam in Ilesa, urged Nigerians to return to God for his mercy.

Bushira also emphasized the importance of continued prayers for a peaceful transition of power on May 29th.

He noted that if Nigerians could rekindle their relationship with God, life would become easier and better.

“God has made things easy for us and what we need to do now is to go back to him for his blessings,” he said.

The clergyman praised the lawmaker for organizing the lecture and referred to him as a blessing to the community.
