Driver Kidnaps and kills his Boss in Ondo

The police have charged Idowu Adekanye, a middle-aged driver, with the kidnapping and murder of his boss, Omololu Olowosoyo, in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Adekanye was accused of committing the offense in collaboration with other accomplices.

He was arraigned in a state magistrate court sitting in Akure on four counts, including conspiracy, kidnapping, and murder. According to the police prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, the defendant committed the offense on January 14, 2023, around 10 pm, along Ore-Ode Irele road in Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Oniyere also stated that the defendant conspired with others to kidnap his boss while on a business trip to Osogbo, Osun State. The victim was reportedly strangled and killed with a stick. The prosecutor argued that the defendant’s actions contravened several sections of the law and requested that he be remanded in the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. The defense counsel opposed the application, but the case was adjourned until Friday. In the meantime, the family of the deceased businessman has petitioned the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 17, Akure, Ondo State, to conduct a discreet investigation into the murder.
