Delta State Government denies deporting Anambra woman

The Delta State Government has denied claims of deporting a woman from Anambra State who was begging for alms and causing disturbances in Asaba. The woman, Ogochukwu Nwabude, was reportedly begging with her baby for about two weeks before being checked by officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The officials found her to be mentally stable but in need of financial assistance. The ministry provided her with some assistance and returned her to its Anambra counterpart for further support. The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olisa Ifeajika, clarified that such measures are a routine activity that often takes place between states and the Federal Capital Territory. He emphasized that the Delta State Government acted in good faith, and the insinuations of deportation are uncharitable.
