Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential aide, has advocated for the public execution of Mohammed Bello, the recently apprehended deadly kidnapper in Abuja.

The Nigeria Police Force announced on Sunday that they had arrested a suspected kidnapper, 28-year-old Bello Mohammed, who is believed to be involved in the abduction and murder of Nabeeha Al-Kadriyar and other kidnapping victims in the Federal Capital Territory. The arrest took place during a raid on a Kaduna hotel on January 20, where the suspect was found in possession of N2.25 million in suspected ransom money.

According to the police statement, Mohammed confessed his involvement in the gang that kidnapped family members in Bwari on January 2.

In response to the arrest, Bashir Ahmad expressed his view on the matter, stating, “While I am aware that the law may not agree with me, but the public execution of that terrorist Mohammed Bello, the apprehended kidnapper involved in the kidnapping of #NajeebahAndHerSisters and the murder of Nabeehah and two others, could serve as a stern warning to the remaining members of his gang and other criminals across the country.”

He further highlighted that the maximum punishment for kidnapping, according to the Terrorism Act 2011, is currently set at 10 years of imprisonment.
