In response to the prevailing insecurity in Obosi community, located in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, the community has declared a war against criminals.

The area has experienced a surge in crime, particularly drug-related and cult activities, resulting in several deaths, including that of a former President General.

On Wednesday, the Central Executive Council of Obosi Development Union (ODU), the community’s leadership, organized a one-day awareness campaign to demonstrate their unwavering commitment to securing their land. A large number of residents participated in a march throughout the community.

Community leaders sternly warned criminals to change their ways or leave the town for their own safety. Barr Chimezie Obi, the President General, addressed the community members during the campaign. He expressed that the initiative was prompted by the numerous crimes and atrocities that have tarnished the town’s reputation and affected its people.

Chimezie emphasized, “Although many of the culprits claim to be from Obosi, they are largely foreigners. However, we are issuing a final warning to those responsible to leave the community immediately.”

He further highlighted the community’s political will to take action but requested support in the form of vehicles, security gadgets, and equipment. Chimezie stressed the need for increased police presence, additional manpower, and recruitment of vigilante operatives to bolster security efforts in Obosi.
