Ahead of the upcoming governorship election in Ondo State, the Adelami political movement has made the decision to dissolve its structure and throw its full support behind Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

With a membership of over 8,000 individuals, the movement has now rebranded itself as the Aiyedatiwa/Adelami Grassroots Mobilisers. Its members are spread across all 18 local government areas of Ondo State.

Formerly associated with Olayide Adelami, the current deputy governor of Ondo State and a contestant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in 2020, the Adelami political movement has expressed its confidence in Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership abilities.

Segun Ogodo, the Director-General of the group, led its leadership to the deputy governor’s office in Akure to make the official announcement. Ogodo highlighted the conviction that only Governor Aiyedatiwa can lead the state to greater heights.

He commended the deputy governor for his unwavering dedication to the APC and his significant contributions to the party’s success in the 2020 governorship election in Ondo State.

“Dr Adelami went above and beyond to generously support Arakunrin Akeredolu’s campaign in 2020, and that played a crucial role in our victory. Even after the election, he continued to support us across all 18 local government areas up until now. Our structure has remained robust and effective in grassroots political mobilization ever since.”

In response, the deputy governor expressed his gratitude to the group for their loyalty and support during the 2020 governorship election. He urged members to intensify their efforts in grassroots mobilization to secure Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory in the November 2024 governorship election. He emphasized the importance of unity and hard work in achieving their shared goal.
