Abia Govt Reports Death of ABSU Student in Clash Between Cults

The Abia State Government has announced the initiation of an investigation into the tragic death of a student from Abia State University, ABSU, resulting from a clash between rival cult groups.

During a press briefing held at the Government House in Umuahia, Mr Okey Kanu, the state Commissioner for Information and Culture, shared this information. He highlighted the government’s awareness of the skirmishes occurring at Abia State University, Uturu, involving certain student groups. Videos circulating online have also brought attention to the incident, revealing the loss of a student’s life during these clashes.

As a responsive and responsible government, immediate measures have been taken to restore peace and maintain order on the campus. Security agencies have been deployed by the government to effectively manage the situation at ABSU, and an investigation is underway to gather more information.

The Commissioner strongly urged students from all tertiary institutions in the state to refrain from engaging in any form of violence or activities that could jeopardize their lives and academic pursuits.
