The Acting Governor of Zamfara State, Malam Mani Malam Mummuni, has reiterated the unwavering position of the State Government against engaging in negotiations or reconciliation with bandits. He vowed to implement robust measures to tackle banditry in the State.

Mummuni, who serves as the deputy governor, highlighted the significant improvements in the security situation and emphasized the notable progress achieved through security operations. He credited Governor Dauda Lawal and the security forces for their dedication and efforts in combatting terrorism in the region.

During a Statewide broadcast delivered in Gusau, the State capital on behalf of Governor Lawal to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr, Mummuni urged citizens to uphold the valuable lessons learned during the holy month of Ramadan. He also called for continued prayers to restore peace, harmony, and tranquility in the State.

The Acting Governor commended Governor Lawal’s commitment to restoring normalcy in Zamfara State and requested ongoing support and prayers from the people for the success of current security endeavors.

Mummuni disclosed that Governor Lawal had engaged with national security chiefs, including a recent visit by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, prompted by directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following Governor Dauda’s advocacy.

Reiterating the State government’s resolute stance, Mummuni emphasized that negotiating or reconciling with bandits was not an option. He pledged to implement aggressive measures to combat insecurity and ensure lasting peace.

Expressing gratitude for the unwavering support of the citizens, Mummuni assured that Governor Lawal’s administration remained committed to fulfilling campaign promises, particularly in prioritisng security.
