Dr. Aisha Anka, the Commissioner for Health in Zamfara State, has suspended all medical outreach activities conducted by unidentified Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and individual organizations.

Expressing deep concern, the Commissioner highlighted that certain unidentified individuals and NGOs were carrying out medical outreach programs without the necessary approval from the ministry.

During a management meeting with directors and senior officers of the ministry, the Commissioner emphasized that the state government had recently declared a State of Emergency in the health sector, implementing measures to address the dire health situation in the state.

“While the state government welcomes and appreciates any organization or individual willing to support and assist the state, it is crucial that they adhere to the proper procedures,” stated the Commissioner, referring to the need for due process.

The statement issued by the ministry’s spokesperson, Comrade Ibrahim Bello Boko, reflected the commissioner’s stance and reiterated the state government’s commitment to accepting support from organisations that follow the established protocols and guidelines.

The decision to suspend unauthorized medical outreach activities aims to ensure that the state government maintains control over healthcare initiatives and guarantees that all efforts align with the state’s emergency health plans.
