Yemi Adeyemi, widely known as ‘Suara,’ has sadly departed, marking another significant loss for the Nigerian film industry.

The veteran actor, renowned for his role alongside Sola Sobowale in the immensely popular TV series Super Story, passed away on Sunday, September 24th.

His family released a statement on Monday, signed by his son Adetoun Adeyemi, requesting privacy during this mournful time while refraining from disclosing the cause of his demise. However, they assured that further information regarding his funeral arrangements would be shared in due course.

Adetoun Adeyemi’s statement read: “With deep sorrow and complete submission to God’s will, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Oluyemi Lawrence Adeyemi (Suara), who peacefully departed to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 24, 2023. We find solace in the knowledge that he rests in peace. We kindly request that the family be granted privacy to grieve. Additional details about the burial will be communicated in due time.”

Dr. Shaibu Husseini, a close friend of the deceased and a renowned movie critic and writer, also confirmed this tragic news.

“I have received reliable information confirming the transition of veteran actor Chief Yemi Adeyemi, also known as Suara,” stated Husseini.

Chief Adeyemi gained prominence through his portrayal of Suara in the highly acclaimed ‘Oh Father, Oh Daughter’ series, part of the widely popular Super Story narratives produced by Wale Adenuga Productions. Baba Suara, as he was affectionately called by some of his younger colleagues, reportedly ‘acted out’ this Sunday. Farewell, Baba Suara. Your absence will be deeply felt. Rest in peace, Odigba Sir. Farewell...” Husseini expressed.

Yemi Adeyemi played a prominent role in Wale Adenuga’s Super Story series, particularly in ‘Oh Father! Oh Daughter!’ where he portrayed a polygamist married to Bukky Wright as his first wife and Sola Sobowale as his second wife.
