February 4 – 6

Pam & Tommy (Hulu)

True crime has always fascinated the public, but this series doesn’t feature any murders or mysteries. Instead, it chronicles one of the most publicized sex tapes of all time. With a great cast including Seth Rogen, Nick Offerman, Sebastian Stan, and Lily James, this series dives into the behind-the-scenes tales of how Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s personal video changed the face of porn forever. Even if the series doesn’t dive to the level I hoped for, Lily James’ performance alone makes this a must-see.

Murderville (Netflix)

Netflix often sneaks in little projects like this one that end up becoming cult favorites. Will Arnett, already an accomplished comedic actor, stars as Detective Terry Seattle who must solve a crime each episode. The twist is that the celebrity guest each time is not aware of the script or plot and must make it up as they go. It is a silly concept but one that will likely keep you laughing all weekend.

Raised By Wolves (HBO Max)

The first season of this sci-fi series was heavily marketed as coming from Ridley Scott. Scott directed the first two episodes of this religion-themed epic but did not contribute behind the camera this time around. The plot has finally found its footing and season two manages to feel far more balanced than the first. Amanda Collin shines once again as Mother as the battle between the faithful and the heretics goes up a notch.

Reacher (Prime Video)

Tom Cruise was nowhere near the physical description of Lee Child’s character of Jack Reacher. New star Alan Ritchson fits the bill and amps up the fight sequences in this series based on the first novel in the ongoing franchise. While it does lack the star power Cruise brought, this series should be much closer to what fans expected it to be.

Suspicion (AppleTV+)

Based on the Israeli series False Flag, this new thriller is a transatlantic mystery where a group of people are suspects in the kidnapping of a mogul’s child. That mogul is played by Uma Thurman which means we should get some pretty intense acting from the acclaimed actress.

Power Book IV: Force (Starz)

Starz debuts their fourth entry in Curtis Jackson’s ongoing gangster series. This time, Joseph Sikora shifts to Chicago for a crime drama with a midwestern flare. Honesty, I was never a big fan of this series but as a Chicagoan, I am intrigued to see how the city is portrayed in this chapter.

Shenmue The Animation (Adult Swim)

Cult classic Sega game Shenmue gets the anime treatment in this multi-part series. While the computer-generated style is not used here in favor of a more traditional 2D look, this is a cool way to relive the criminal mythology introduced in the games for a new generation of fans.
