The University of Ilorin has made an announcement on Monday regarding a downward revision of charges that students are required to pay for the upcoming 2022-2023 academic session as academic activities resume.

This decision to revise the charges came after a series of meetings between the university’s management, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Abayomi Omotesho, and the Students’ Union, led by its president, Comrade Joseph Adesunkanmi Ologundudu.

The new charges will range from N114,720 to N215,820 for new students and N52,700 to N91,430 for returning students, depending on their respective courses of study.

This marks a significant reduction compared to the earlier charges that were released, which ranged from N138,240 to N254,640 for new students and N69,360 to N103,560 for returning students, based on their courses of study.

Initially, the university had announced the charges on November 24, 2023, through its official social media platforms. However, after the meeting with the students’ union leadership on November 28, 2023, the university announced the downward revision.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor stated that the university addressed the concerns of the students through dialogue, emphasizing their commitment to creating a supportive and conducive learning environment for all members of the academic community.

In response, the president of the students’ union, Comrade Ologundudu, expressed gratitude to the university management for their consideration and adjustment of the charges, reflecting their thoughtfulness.
