Toyin Abraham succumbs to pressure and reconciles with Funke Akindele

Actresses Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele have finally put an end to their long-standing, unspoken rivalry.

There have been numerous reports regarding a supposed competition between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, particularly in relation to producing the highest-grossing movies at the box office.

Their decision to release their movies, ‘Ghost and the tout too’ in cinemas and ‘Omo Ghetto the saga’ on Netflix, both on September 10, 2021, stirred up quite a buzz.

At one point, Iyabo Ojo added fuel to the fire by alleging that Funke Akindele was backing an online movie platform to deliberately tarnish Toyin Abraham’s films with negative reviews.

The rivalry became even more evident in 2022 when both actors boastfully highlighted the success of their respective movies at the Nigerian box office, leading to divisions among their fans and even colleagues.

Funke Akindele made the announcement on December 28, 2022, that her movie, ‘Battle on Buka Street,’ had grossed over N200 million in just 12 days at the Nigerian box office. Not to be outdone, Toyin Abraham, who released ‘Ijakumo’ on the same date, revealed that her film had earned N31 million in one day and N65 million in just 5 days.

Interestingly, the two women have now reconciled and exchanged pleasantries on Instagram on August 24th, 2023. Toyin Abraham shared a photo of Funke Akindele on her Instagram story to celebrate her 46th birthday and wrote, “Happy birthday Auntie Funke, send cake oo.”

Funke Akindele acknowledged the post by reposting it on her Instagram page and responded with, “Thanks, darling. You too send cake.”
