Nigeria’s president-elect, Bola Tinubu, and vice-president-elect, Kashim Shettima, have moved into the Defence House in Abuja ahead of their inauguration on May 29. The director of media and publicity for the Tinubu/Shettima campaign, Bayo Onanuga, tweeted on Wednesday that the duo has moved into the Defence House. Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Monday after resting in Paris following his victory in the presidential election.

Tinubu defeated Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), to become the president-elect. Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes, while Abubakar and Obi secured 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes, respectively.

The Defence House, located in the Maitama district of Abuja, will serve as their residence until the duo takes the oath of office. They will then move to the Aso Rock villa. Tinubu is expected to hold key meetings and receive briefings at the residence. Senate President Ahmad Lawan, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, and Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the house of representatives, were among those who accompanied Tinubu to the house.
