Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation activist, stated that President Bola Tinubu would not tolerate the lawlessness that led to herders killing farmers during the previous administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Igboho issued a warning to herders, cautioning them against any further attacks on farmers in the Southwest region of Nigeria.

His remarks came in response to comments made by Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, the national president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, who dismissed Igboho’s recent quit notice to Fulani herders in the Southwest.

In October, Igboho had given Fulani herders a seven-day ultimatum to leave the Southwest.

However, Bodejo criticized Igboho’s ultimatum in a recent interview.

Igboho, in his response, referred to Bodejo as a “mere attention seeker.” He emphasized that Nigeria’s Constitution does not support the mindless killing of farmers, the rape of their wives, and the destruction of farmlands.

In a statement he signed, Igboho said: “Security agencies must take steps to prevent certain alleged killer Fulani herders from reigniting tension and an atmosphere of insecurity in any part of Nigeria, especially in Yorubaland, particularly in agrarian communities and settlements.”

“It is important for the Miyetti Allah group to realize that the lawlessness that occurred under former President Muhammadu Buhari will not be tolerated under the current President, Bola Tinubu.”

“It is evident that Bodejo is seeking undue recognition through his unjustifiable stance on the atrocities committed by his fellow Fulani herders, which have caused immense hardship for small and large-scale farmers, both in the North and more significantly in the South, where their cattle often graze on farms and destroy cash crops.”

“They should dismiss the idea of launching unprovoked attacks on farmers, particularly in the Southwest, where we have lost many innocent farmers. The relevant security agencies and the people will not allow them to further exacerbate the plight of the common man.”
