Sir Celestine Omehia, the former Governor of Rivers State, admonished Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), urging him to curb his insatiable hunger for power and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to carry out his responsibilities.

Omehia expressed his views in a statement shared with Vistanaij Media, addressing the live television interview recently conducted by Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current FCT Minister in Abuja.

During the interview, Wike referred to Uche Secondus, Senator George Sekibo, and other leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State as “expired politicians and buccaneers” due to their support for Fubara.

Responding to Wike’s comments, Omehia characterised Wike’s uncontrolled outbursts as the product of a confused mind, asserting that Wike’s anger stems from the collapse of his ambition for a third term. The people of Rivers State have realised that Wike’s pursuit of power is self-centered and not in the best interest of the state or the South-South region, as he claims.

“The FCT Minister believed that he could continue to control and exploit the resources and governance of the state. However, God, through the people, thwarted the impeachment plot by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly,” Omehia stated.

Omehia further criticised Wike for his penchant for lying, disrespecting elders, and making contradictory statements. He expressed his lack of surprise regarding Wike’s outbursts and criticisms of innocent individuals in Rivers State.

“Wike speaks with a forked tongue, saying one thing today and denying it tomorrow like a clown. I am not a buccaneer, and my ability to contribute to the growth and development of my state and country is not impaired,” Omehia asserted.

Omehia questioned why Wike was bothered by their support for the Governor and the Federal Government under President Tinubu. He pondered whether Wike wanted perpetual political warfare, even long after elections, and when governance has taken precedence. He deemed such an attitude as madness.
