Senator Diket Plang, representing Plateau State under the APC party, has expressed the desire of the Plateau people for permanent solutions to the ongoing security challenges in the state, rather than temporary palliative measures.

During a press briefing in Jos on Wednesday, Senator Diket emphasized that implementing lasting solutions would not only save numerous lives but also put an end to the persistent bloodshed in the north-central state.

The senator proposed the establishment of military bases in identified flashpoints as a proactive measure to deter bandits and ensure the safety of the affected areas.

He stated, “I have presented a motion at the National Assembly, aiming to secure enduring peace for Plateau State, as opposed to a reactive approach. Following the motion, we reached a resolution that instead of temporary measures, we should seek permanent solutions to address insecurity.”

Rather than relying solely on the military in response to bandit attacks, Senator Diket suggested the need to fortify entry points used by criminals in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu, Gindiri, and Bauchi. By securing all these locations, criminals would find it difficult to enter and escape the region without detection.

Senator Diket Plang emphasized the importance of proactive measures and a comprehensive approach to ensure the long-term security and stability of Plateau State.
