Resignation of Ningi as Chairman of Northern Senators Forum

Senator Abdul Ningi has made the decision to step down from his position as the Chairman of the Northern Senators Forum. In a statement released on Tuesday and reported by Vistanaij Media, Ningi cited unfolding events in the National Assembly, the North, and the entire nation as the reasons behind his resignation.

Expressing his gratitude towards the members of the forum for the opportunity to lead for the past eight months, Ningi emphasized the importance of the forum for the progress and development of Northern Nigeria. He acknowledged the significance of the role and the responsibility it carries.

The resignation comes after Senator Ningi, who represents Bauchi Central on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was suspended for three months due to his allegation that the Federal Government was operating two budgets. He had previously raised concerns about a purported padding of N3.7 trillion into the 2024 budget.

The suspension was a result of an amendment to a motion raised by Senator Solomon Adeola Olamilekan, which sparked lengthy debates among the Senators.
