Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi has taken a significant stand against piracy by exposing and apprehending five individuals involved in the illegal sale of her movie, “Malaika,” which is currently being screened nationwide.

During a press conference, the actress, who is also a mother, shared her experience of being alerted to the rampant piracy attempts. She mentioned receiving a link that contained her movie, as well as another film suspected to be “A Tribe Called Judah,” which has reportedly suffered leaks since its second week in cinemas.

Reflecting on the link she received, Toyin Abraham expressed the immense stress it caused her, as the movie project cost her over five hundred million naira. She revealed the toll it took on her mental health, recounting frequent hospital visits and panic attacks.

Regarding the measures taken to combat the dissemination of the malicious link, the actress informed that the links were deactivated, and authorities have arrested five individuals in connection with the issue.

This is not a fight for myself or anything. It is for the creative and entertainment industry.

I took it upon myself to fight this fight against piracy. I am a victim. I am not okay. I am coming from the hospital. I had panic attack, shooting a movie for over 500 million naira. I saw my movie and another movie. I wanted to run mad when I saw Malaika,” Toyin Abraham’s part speech.
