Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, representing Katsina State, has spearheaded a meeting between North-West governors and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The purpose of the meeting was to address various issues concerning security and agriculture, among other topics. Governor Radda, who also serves as the chairman of the North West Governors Forum, was accompanied by governors from Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, all of whom gathered at the Presidential Villa for the discussions.

According to a statement released by Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Katsina State Governor, the governors engaged in fruitful discussions with President Tinubu regarding the region’s ongoing efforts to tackle security challenges, particularly the issue of banditry that has been a significant concern. The meeting served as an opportunity for the governors to share the measures they have implemented to address these security threats and exchange ideas with the President.

The governors emphasized the critical need to enhance security in the region, as it plays a vital role in enabling farmers to have unimpeded access to farmlands. They recognized that to uphold the agricultural potential for which the region is renowned, ensuring the safety and protection of farmers is paramount.

In this regard, President Bola Tinubu expressed his commitment to supporting the governors in their efforts to improve regional security. As the first set of governors to meet with the President, they discussed ways to strengthen security measures in the region.

President Tinubu reiterated the significance of agriculture as a top priority for his administration. He expressed his unwavering determination to ensure that Nigeria achieves self-sufficiency in food production. Recognizing the vital role of agriculture in the nation’s development, the President affirmed his dedication to supporting agricultural initiatives and initiatives aimed at boosting food security.

Additionally, the President highlighted his intention to collaborate with the governors on providing relief measures to the citizens of their respective states. These measures aim to mitigate the impact of the removal of fuel subsidies and alleviate the burden on the people.
