During the 21st plenary meeting of the Police Service Commission, the appointment of Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Bala Ciroma and Frank Mba as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) was approved.

This decision, announced in a statement by spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani, brings changes to the Police management team, specifically in relation to the North East geo-political zone.

In light of the retirement of DIG Ali Janga, DIG Ciroma has been appointed to take over his role. This move ensures continuity and effective representation of the North East zone within the Police management structure. The Police Service Commission’s decision reflects their commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining a strong leadership team within the police force.

As part of the approved appointments, DIG Frank Mba will now assume the responsibility of representing the South East zone, succeeding retired DIG John Amadi who previously held the position. This appointment ensures proper representation and effective management within the South East region.

In addition to the new appointments, the Police Service Commission has granted promotions to several officers. Fourteen Commissioners of Police have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police, recognizing their contributions and elevating their positions within the police force. Furthermore, twenty-two Deputy Commissioners of Police have been promoted to the substantive rank of Commissioners, acknowledging their dedication and expertise.

Moreover, the Police Service Commission has approved the promotions of twenty-four Assistant Commissioners of Police and thirty-nine Chief Superintendents of Police, granting them advancement to their respective next ranks. These promotions reflect the Commission’s recognition of their skills, experience, and commitment to maintaining law and order.

By approving these promotions, the Police Service Commission aims to motivate and reward deserving officers while enhancing the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Nigerian Police Force.

Dr. Solomon Arase, the Chairman of the Commission, extended his congratulations to the officers who were newly promoted. He urged them to demonstrate their gratitude for the Commission’s recognition by recommitting themselves to serving their country diligently.
