The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that the federal government will distribute additional computer systems to facilitate the enrollment of National Identification Numbers (NIN).

In a statement released on Wednesday, Kayode Adegoke, the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, stated that the Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of NIMC, Abisoye Odusote-Coker, has approved the distribution of more enrollment systems to all states.

This nationwide distribution of computer systems is part of the government’s efforts to address challenges related to NIN enrollment and increase operational capacity.

Odusote-Coker emphasized that her administration will not tolerate any form of extortion from applicants. She has directed that any staff found engaging in such practices will face appropriate disciplinary actions in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and existing Public Service Rules.

“The provision of additional enrollment devices underscores the commitment of the DG/CEO to streamline operations and enhance overall effectiveness. These systems have been installed and are being used in all states. They have not only reduced the time spent by applicants but have also increased the number of applicants attended to daily,” the statement said.

Odusote-Coker has also deployed monitoring and evaluation teams to various centers across the country to ensure the smooth running of enrollment and modification exercises. These teams will strictly adhere to her zero-tolerance policy against extortion and unethical practices.
