New Council Chairmen Sworn-In by Oyebanji in Ekiti

In Ekiti State, Governor Biodun Oyebanji administered the oath of office to the 38 recently elected local government chairmen on Thursday.

The governor emphasized the importance of prioritizing enhanced security and revenue generation within their respective council areas.

Oyebanji urged the council chairmen to build upon the solid foundation established by their predecessors, emphasizing that his administration would not tolerate any security lapses at the local government level. The newly elected chairmen emerged from the local government elections held on December 2, 2023.

Representing the governor, Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye commended the immediate past chairmen and those who were reelected for demonstrating exceptional political and administrative skills despite the challenges they faced as pioneers.

Governor Oyebanji reiterated his zero-tolerance stance on corruption and misuse of council funds, urging the chairmen to carry out their duties with utmost honesty, impartiality, fairness, and compassion. He emphasized the need for them to work diligently to achieve the shared prosperity goals of his government.

The governor also highlighted his commitment to conducting local government elections as a testament to his desire for democratic governance at the grassroots level.
