The Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Murtfwang, has expressed a strong determination to put an end to the killings in the state.

He revealed that he had reached out to President Bola Tinubu, urging him to identify and apprehend the perpetrators while also ensuring a permanent cessation of attacks in the state.

In a statement shared on X, Murtfwang highlighted the discussions he had with Tinubu, emphasizing the decisions they had made and agreed upon.

The tragic events on Christmas Eve saw over a hundred people killed in various communities within Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs of the state.

“We are grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who was represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, for treating the situation in Plateau State as an urgent matter,” Murtfwang wrote.

He continued, “I appreciate the Vice President for expressing their deep shock over the heinous killings of the people of Plateau State. We cannot overlook what has happened, and when I spoke with President Tinubu, I implored him to ensure that the shedding of blood in Plateau comes to an end.”

Murtfwang denounced the recent incidents as unprovoked, barbaric, and unjustifiable. He emphasized the need for the Federal Government to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the killings.

Having discussed the matter with President Tinubu, Murtfwang expressed their agreement on several decisions and vowed to tirelessly pursue their implementation.

“We will take every necessary step to rectify past wrongs and ensure that those in urgent need of healthcare receive prompt attention,” he stated.

The governor expressed his long-standing prayer for unity among Plateau’s leaders, believing that the seeds of unity have been sown. He remains committed to fostering unity and bringing an end to the bloodshed in the state.
